As we get ready for the International Day of the Girl, let’s celebrate our own Girl Heroes. One of mine is my oldest daughter, Rylan. In 9th grade she decided to run cross country for the first time. Ever. At a 6A high school.
I thought it sounded crazy, but I trusted her decision. She’s in her second year of running and she gets better every week, setting her personal record each time she runs. And she’s thrilled every week! She’s thrilled not because she wins or even comes close to it. She’s thrilled because she is getting faster and stronger. On her own terms. Now that’s a Girl Hero!
